My last blog was about CBD oil, now were talking specifically about the difference with Hemp.
First, the Cannabis plant has a scientific name which is Cannabis Sativa. And Hemp is the common name of this plant, Marijuana is the nickname of cannabis. And CBD is one of the molecules that we found in the Cannabis plant. So Cannabis plant = Hemp = Marijuana.
Hemp has less than 0.3% of THC the cannabinoid that has the psychoactive effects, meaning that it won't make your pet be high.
Hemp oil contains omega-6 and omega-3 and it is a good source of protein, but it has very little molecule CBD or no CBD at all. In other words, Hemp oil or CBD oil is used as a homeopathic supplement that may help for:
anxiety and stress: but there are not as effective as the products with CBD oil
skin disorders: Omega-6 and Omega-3 support skin cells and also help to reduce the inflammation that produces discomfort and itchiness. The properties also help your pet have healthier coats.
mobility problems: Fatty acids also are very well known for joint problems. It helps to reduce inflammation and pain in sore joints.
Hemp is a safe product for your dog as long as you see it on the label that oil contains less than 0.3 percent tetrahydrocannabinol.
It is possible to see some side effects such as vomiting, lethargy, lack of appetite, or diarrhea, but again those are very rare to see.
You can find Hemp in oil, cookies, treats, peanut butter, chews, shampoo, and powder.
